Fitwits is a project granted from The Heinz Endowments in order to promote a more comprehensive health and nutrition content through play— allowing families the opportunity to interact with each other, ask questions, share information, invent new ideas and play. It is a collaboration between CMU, UPMC and the Pittsburgh Public schools. Through research, we found out that only 10% of PA parents are involved in school activities relating to healthy eating. We used research methods like, card sorting, case studies, spoke with focus groups, design workshops and online surveys to find out the best method to get parents involved. They wanted a tool that had all the resource guides in one place that was easy to carry it around and refer back to. This is Fitwits—a 5"x7" community resource guide made for parents and by parents.
